During his earthly ministry Jesus took 12 men from diverse backgrounds and formed them into the most powerful force for change that the world has ever known. In one generation, 12 men carried radical good news to every corner of the world. He did it by making disciples.
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[b] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 21:18-20
During 2019 Summit will look closely at what it means to be a disciple, how to become a disciple, the blessings and the costs of discipleship ,and finally how to make new disciples.
One might assume that being baptized and faithful in attendance equates to discipleship. As we look at what Jesus did to make disciples, we will find there is a lot more involved. From the Great Commission we see 1) Go 2) Teach 3) Baptize 4) Obey and 5) Behold (presence of Jesus in your life).
Discipleship is not for the faint of heart but represents the most fulfilled life and eternity that a person can aspire to. Come along as we consider being a disciple of Jesus.
