“Why Should We Wait?” by Andrew Ellis

With 2019 slowly approaching, there are several people out there who are developing their New Year’s resolutions. These resolutions are made because many people recognize change is needed in their life. When we need to change in our lives, why should we wait for a new year to implement practices to initiate that change? When we put Christ on in baptism, we committed to living a different life. Romans 12:2 says, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

When we see change is needed in our lives, the change should happen immediately. In our walk as Christians, any change that will help us improve our faith should happen immediately because we do not know if we will have the opportunity to do so in the future. Jesus says in Matthew 24:44, “Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”

While the New Year’s resolutions that are created have a good meaning, why wait for the new year to change? Let us look for solutions. Do we need to make changes in our lives as Christians? We should be mindful of where we are in our faith. We should always be looking to improve ourselves. Let us not wait to make change happen, make it happen now!
