Recently I assisted my brother with yard work at his house. One of the projects was to remove shrubs. The difficult part of this job was extracting them from the ground. These shrubs were deeply rooted in the ground. Ultimately, the shrubs were removed successfully. The deep roots of these shrubs made this job more challenging to complete.
I want to connect this story to all of us as Christians. How deeply rooted are we in our faith? How strong are we in our faith? Are we informed about what we believe? It is essential for Christians to have a firm comprehension of the truth. Are our beliefs rooted in truth or false information? A considerable factor that could lead people astray is false teachers. We need to be able to discern false teachers. God’s Word emphasizes the effect of recognizing false teachers. 1 John 4:1 says, “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.”
There will always be false teachers who will circulate misinformation. Just like the scripture says above, we need to test them to see if they are from God. It is up to us to research what is scripturally accurate and inaccurate. When we know what is true with God’s Word, there is nothing that could take us away from God. When our beliefs are rooted in God’s Word there is nothing that could uproot us from our faith.
