I love this time of year! Everyone seems to be a little more FAITHFUL, OBEDIENT and LOVING. For the next few weeks, churches are going to fill up as many consider God’s Son coming into this world.
The youngest and most beloved Apostle, John, is now an old man when he writes (1 John 5 ESV):
- Faith: — 1 Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, …
- Love: … and everyone who loves the Father loves whoever has been born of him.
- Obedience: 2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and obey his commandments. 3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome.
As we can see, everything begins with a faith that leads to being born again. John goes on to say that this new birth leads to us overcoming the world, just as Jesus did, by the water and the blood (1 Jn.5:4-6).
If we want this happiness to endure through eternity, we too need to become part of the SPIRIT, WATER, AND BLOOD (1 John 7-8).
Friend, have you died with Jesus in baptism (BLOOD, Romans 6:3)? Have you been buried with Him in baptism (WATER, Romans 6:4-5)? And have you been raised to walk this new “born again” life (SPIRIT, Romans 6:4-5)?
