“Our Patient Judge is Holy” by Neville Buchanan

For years you Christians have been waiting. Where is this supposed God of yours?

It was this scoffing, (in 2 Peter 3:3-4), that prompted Peter to write about:

  • PATIENCE: 9 The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.
  • JUDGEMENT: 10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed.
  • HOLINESS: 11 Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of people ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness,

The message is clear. The reason God has not yet brought judgement is that He is patient. He is waiting for us to “clean up our act”. Why? Because God does not lie – judgement will happen! So, we are to hasten His coming by living holy & repentant lives.

Friend, our goal for the next minute, hour, or day is holiness — to be found in Him without “spot or blemish, and at peace” (2 Pt.3:14)!
