Christ’s Rep by Neville Buchanan

Being a Christian means we set aside our needs and wants so that the will of the Kingdom can be done on earth. That often means being willing to take on responsibility for someone else.

It is not easy to have to constantly represent Christ. From time to time we will be called to:

  • Eat “humble pie”.
  • Forgive our enemies.
  • Allow mental, emotional, and physical abuse.

But that is the life Christ is calling us to in Philippians 2:5–8 (ESV).

  1. Called to be like Him — 5 Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus,
  2. Called to sacrifice – 6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.
  3. Called to be humble & abused – 8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.

While the Christian life is exciting, what we are called to is also exhausting. So, how do we keep on keeping on? I believe it is by coming together in prayer, for each other, because we realize God’s power.

Friend, how are you doing today? Is there anything you can share with me that together we can take to God?
