If anything is clear today, it is the presence of gross religious confusion in the world. Why do people choose to seek God in so many ways? How can anyone know what is right? These questions are very serious ones that no one should consider trivial.

A long time ago God said, “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death” (Proverbs 14:12). God has, however, prepared a way. We are to find that way through His Son (Matthew 17:5). In addition, Jesus declared, “Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord, shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven”(Matthew 7:21). For this reason, we believe that by a study of the Bible as God’s Holy Word, one will find answers to life’s most important questions.

The church of Christ is not a denomination. It is neither Catholic nor Protestant but strives to be the church that Jesus founded nearly 2000 years ago. The gospel has not changed, so we urge obedience to the same conditions of salvation. When a person obeys the gospel, that person becomes a Christian, nothing more or nothing less. Only Jesus adds those who are being saved to His body, the church (Acts 2:47). Undenominational Christianity is all that existed in the New Testament, so we teach that today. The Bible is our only guide. All other doctrines, creeds, confessions, and catechisms are written by uninspired men. Seeking to restore the church of the New Testament is our goal. Therefore, we strive to speak where the Bible speaks and to be silent where the Bible is silent.

At the Summit Church of Christ, we believe that the Bible teaches we are saved when we believe and are baptized (Mk.16:16). We believe baptism occurs when an individual who has reached the age of accountability, confesses Christ and is immersed under water  (Acts 8:37-38) for the remission of their sins so that they may receive the gift of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38).  As Jesus said in John 3:3-5 unless you are born again of the water and spirit you shall not see or enter into the Kingdom. We also believe that it is God who adds us to the Body of Christ (Acts 2:47). Our song worship to God is acapella (Col.3:16) and we take the Lord’s Supper every first day of the week (Acts 20:7).

In the New Testament, the Lord has provided a complete pattern for the name, doctrine, organization, worship, and mission of His Church. Our desire is to please God by honoring His design for the church and to love and serve one another in our community. Caring and sharing is the Lord’s way. The church is unified in its mission to reach out to the lost with the only hope of the world – Jesus Christ.
